Your kids are amazing
The part of camp I never get to experience are the stories told at home. I always wonder how things get relayed back to parents and friends about camp. What things really made an impression. I wonder what little funny thing that happened is retold as a huge story and what big things are passed over. I know as you sit down and read this you are chomping at the bit to hear stories from your child. They are going to be great. Enjoy spending time together talking about camp. I know you will probably hear about the Yeti, Captain Heck, color teams, activities, and friendships formed. I would encourage you to use those times to get them to talk about things they learned from their experiences here or from the camp services.
Some great things are happening. Last night we spent time learning that Jesus is our rescuer from the punishment of sin and that Jesus is ready to forgive all of us. Several Central kids named Jesus their Leader and Forgiver last night and several more are processing through what it means. It is amazing to get to be a part of that decision. Your child has spent some time this week thinking about their relationship with God. It was a great, great night!
UCYC has partnered with a missionary nicknamed “Boots” from the Dominican Republic. All summer long kids have been donating to help him out. One of the great things UCYC has done to help us choose to give our money to this cause is a “Summer Staffer Dinner Auction.” This morning, small groups got together and figured out how much money everyone was willing to donate to buy the opportunity to have dinner with the UCYC summer staff. Our session of camp, Central and the other churches here this week, gave over $700 at the auction today. That’s $700 of candy and ice cream and drinks your kids chose to sacrifice and give. We are enjoying a great group of kids this week at camp. I know now why you are so ready for them to be back home. We will be back in a little over 24 hours. Until then, here are a few pictures from some of the pool games we have played this week.

Thanks Daniel. We can hear the excitement in your voice when you talk about all the exciting things happening there at camp. Yes, you are right… we can’t wait to hear about all the stories. Usually, they go on for about 2 or 3 weeks. When something or someone reminds her about a story – we get to hear it. You guys are so awesome! We want all of you to know how appreciative we are as parents, to have our daughter beable to be a part of something so huge. The memories are priceless too! Thanks again. See you guys tomorrow. Be safe and enjoy your last night together. We’re ready for our pumpkin to be in our arms
Wow you all are brave to have all those kids in the pool at once!!! I can’t believe in the midst of them all I found my Izzy!!! Thanks Central for the update & AMAZING pictures!!!
Ethan (Howe) – We hope you are all your new friends and volunteers have a safe and happy journey back to Las Vegas and have had a wonderful time together. (Love from your grandparents in England)
This is so awesome! I can’t believe I totally forgot about the blog! Thank you for the updates!
Can Laura resend the email she just sent out? Thanks!
It is absolutely AWESOME that these kids are willing to give up ice cream and candy in service to our God. What a wonderful lesson in selflessness. Not to mention that I would much prefer Meghan’s camp spending money go towards teaching other people the Word of God than into candy! I can’t wait to hear everything, see the pictures she took, and just hug her and tell her I missed her desperately but am so thankful she got to get away. Thank you to everyone from Central and UCYC for giving our children such an important experience.
I am so glad the kids seem to be having an awesome time – and am very proud of their generosity – I talked to Matthew last night and even though he was homesick he still said he was having fun and making friends and his leader Cameron was cool. I appreciated the phone call and the way Cameron dealt with the whole situation. I am really looking forward to seeing him in about 18hrs and i.m sure he will have lots of stories! Stay safe God bless!
WOW!!! I’m a worry wart for sure, but the pictures sum it all up for me. I wish I was there too! God’s children look like they are having the best time ever! EVER! WOW!!! Stay safe and God Bless! Also have a great friday everybody! Again…WOW!!!
